PREPARATION FOR GREATNESS

Scripture Reading: Luke 22:41-44, Mat 26:37-44

Jesus was close, so close to finishing what His Father had sent Him to do, and the enemy knew this. Therefore he decided to do something drastic to try and stop Jesus. He knew that if Jesus made it to the Cross it was all over for him, he had to pull out all stops... and Jesus soul became exceeding sorrowful, even unto death.  If Jesus gave up before He made it to the Cross the world would be lost, and this is what the enemy wanted. It was time, time for Jesus to get alone and pray, time for Jesus to cry out to His Father. Jesus was going through His final preparation before the Cross,  He was going through Preparation for Greatness for us

Whenever God is about to perform a miracle in our lives, there will always be opposition and great persecution from the enemy.  The enemy will use anything and anyone to abort Gods will for your life.  He will use those who are close to you, those who are close to your heart; he will even use your family to discourage you.  People that you thought you could count on will begin to turn away from you.  They begin to question whether or not you truly heard from the Lord, and what you are doing.  They will cause you to become so discouraged that you begin to question whether or not it was Gods voice you heard. Dont be surprised at the trials that you are going through; its just a test.

And the enemy wants you to believe that what you are going through is only happening to you and no one else.  He wants you to believe that your situation is unique and created just for you. But believe me, you are not alone.  God says you are partaking of His sufferings, and if you will just go through you will be filled with exceeding joy.  So start rejoicing!

1Pe 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

You can rejoice in the safety of Gods comfort knowing that He will never leave you nor forsake you.  He is in control of what you are going through and once you realize this, He will begin to reveal to you how the enemy operates.  He will first help you to recognize that the enemy will never bother those who are not a threat to his kingdom.  He will make you aware that the more you do for the Lord and the greater your anointing is, the more the enemy will come against you.  You will learn that its the enemys job to try and stop you in any way he can (that is why he is called the enemy) from reaching Gods will for your life, and that everything he says is the opposite of what God wants for you.  Listen for Gods still small voice as He teaches you.

God has great plans for you.  God knows your spiritual potential and He knows your limit, He  knows how much we can bare and He will not allow you to experience adversity any longer than necessary to fulfill His purpose for you.  What comfort, what joy in knowing that Gods is always in control no matter what we are going through.  We dont have to worry about whether or not we are at our breaking point, God knows our limit and He knows when to say enough.

GODS TIMING

I know it seems that you have been going through and being tested for awhile now, but you must understand that Gods timing is always right on time.  He doesnt need a  watch, He knows what time it is. Jesus understands timing better than anyone else.  It is important that you allow Him to prepare you to receive your blessings.

James 1:4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Look at the ministry of Jesus. He didnt begin His ministry until He was 30 years old.  For 30 years Jesus was being prepared for a 3-year ministry that would change lives forever.  Therefore if Jesus had to go through preparation for 30 years for us, who are we to question how long we must go through before we receive our blessings?  Preparation is never wasted time.  When its your time to be blessed, no demon in hell will be able to stand against you.  No demon will be able to stop you from receiving what God has for you.  The gates of hell will not be able to prevail against you.  God will open doors for you that no man can shut, and will close doors in your life that no one will be able to open.  God will cause men to give unto you.  He will open financial doors for you that you thought were impossible.  He will give you supernatural strength to go through situation that in the natural would have been impossible for you to handle. God will bless you and cause all things to work together for your good, but you must go through preparation; there is no way around it.

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

This persecution that you are going through will strengthen your patience, and bring tremendous blessings into your life. So let patience have her perfect work so God can be glorified.

HELP EACH OTHER and PRAY!

  Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (18k)

Jesus asked His disciples to wait for Him and pray.  Thats all pray.  What a simple request, yet the enemy caused their flesh to be weak.  Jesus recognized that their soul was willing, but they were too tired to watch and pray.

The difficult times that we face help us to help others, or at least they should. There are times that we go through situations that we dont want anyone to know about.  I know some of the things that I have shared with you, I always thought I would take them to the grave with me. But God said not so, for when we come through our test, we are supposed to help ease the load of our brothers and sisters in Christ that are just beginning to go through.  God didnt bring you through that impossible situation for Him not to get the Glory.  No, He allowed you make it through in order to bring others to Him. Experience is always the best teacher.  A good teacher is one that has gone through the hard times, and is willing to share what they have learned to help you avoid or get through your storm.

And when you are going through, you dont always want someone quoting scriptures to you, especially someone that hasnt gone through anything.  Most times you want to know that they have been through what you have gone through.  You want to know if they have ever felt what you are feeling, and if so, how did they survive?  If you havent gone through anything, how will you be able to help someone get through the storms in their lives?  You cant, you must go through.   There is always a time to quote the scriptures to them, and you can usually do that after you have shared your experiences and prayed with them.

 PRAY!

Heb 5:7-9  Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

We must do as Jesus did throughout His ministry and especially when His soul became exceeding sorrowful...PRAY!  Jesus prayed not once, not twice, but three times He prayed the same prayer until the angels came to strengthen Him.  And even after that He prayed more earnestly so He could make it to the Cross.   The scripture says that in His days of flesh He offered up PRAYERS AND SUPPLICATIONS to His Father, the One who was able to save Him.  We must follow His example, pray it out, and cry it out until the Lord hears us.  If Jesus saw the need to do this, so should we.  Dont let Him go until He blesses us.

I know sometimes its hard to pray when you are going through.  You just dont feel like it, but if you dont you wont be able to make it to the other side as Jesus did.  Its when you dont feel like praying and praising Him that you must.  Its those prayers that will draw us nearer.  Jesus knew the only way He was going to make it to the Cross was to press and pray His way through.  Yes, His soul was sorrowful, but still He Had to Pray. Now I dont care what you are going through it cant be worse than what my Lord and Savior went through for us.  SO PRAY!

This trial that you are going through is blessing you whether or not you recognize it.  It is causing you to pray and the more you pray the stronger you get.  Gods mercy is drawn to your prayers.  God is right there with you in the midst of every difficult situation you are in, and He will see you through.  All of your hard times are ushering in Gods blessings, so PRAY!  PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS!

NO PAIN, NO GAIN

Too many times we want the anointing and the blessings, but not the persecution that goes along with it.  We want all the joy and happiness, but not the tears, the pain, or the trials.  The anointing is costly, and most of us dont want to pay the price for it. The Preparation Process is the price we must pay to be an anointed instrument for the Lord. We have to be willing to go through for the Lord as He did for us.  If we think that we are going to receive something from the Lord without going through we are only fooling ourselves.

We must go through the preparation; we must endure our season of pain for a season of gain.  You heard the saying, No pain, no gain.  Well, its a true statement.  If you want the anointing (the gain) you must go through preparation (the pain).   You must be willing to say as the three Hebrew boys did.  My God is able to deliver me from this fiery trial, but if not I will bow down to the enemy.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (42k)

Dan 3:17-18  If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image, which thou hast set up.

God may not take us out of the fire right then, but He will give you the grace, and strength you need to make it through. He will be right there with us as we go through the fire.  And when its time for you to come out, you will come out stronger than ever.  You will come out with a testimony that will set the captives free.

Dan 3:24-25 Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

LOOK UP AND BE ENCOURAGED

Psalm 121:1-2 (35k)

God wants you to stop looking at the trial that you are going through and lift your eyes up to the hills for your strength. He wants you to cry out to Him for the help that you need. He has not forgotten you, nor is He asleep on the job.  Call upon Him in your hour of need and He will be there.

Psa 121:1-3  I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

 NEVERTHELESS, NOT MY WILL,
BUT THY WILL BE DONE

It is time we start recognizing persecution as a sign that God is about to do something great in our lives.  As we become more intimate with God know that the enemy will assign his task force to follow you around to hinder you at every turn.  Dont fear, Gods grace is sufficient for you, and He will keep you suited up in His whole amour so you will be able to stand against any attack from the enemy. You must always remember you were not destined to be a failure; you were destined to be victorious with Jesus over all the enemies of your soul.  Surrender to the problem to the Lord and say what Jesus said NEVERTHELESS, NOT MY WILL, THY WILL BE DONE.  Then be encouraged and go through the trial that has come upon you.  Know that God is preparing you to receive a miracle.  You may not know where the miracle is coming from, or when it will take place, but know that its coming.  Know that at the end of this trial a miracle is waiting for you.

God desires to prepare you for something great.  God desires for you to be the head and not the tail.  Are you willing to allow Him to do it? The enemy has a plan to divert you from your blessings, but Gods plan is the ultimate plan, and His plan is the only one that matters. Persecution should no longer be your enemy; it should be seen for what it is Preparation for Greatness!

LEARNING TO LEAN

It took me forever, Lord, to learn how to lean.
To leave my friends as you lovingly began to wean.
I know I was stubborn, and I dug in my heels,
And when you applied pressure did I ever squeal.

It was a concept, Lord, that I just hadn't learned,
And obviously . . . I was not too much concerned.
But as my old leaning-posts were taken away,
Routine confidence . . . began rapidly to fray.

Then your Holy Spirit, made it abundantly clear,
To you alone, Lord, must I ultimately adhere.
Only in your word and Spirit, may I ever grow strong,
As you continue to teach me, a blessed new song.

It is not in friends and others that I will understand.
All my strength and wisdom must come to me firsthand.
No longer can another, walk me through the task,
For only in Your guidance, may I safely bask.

Keep on teaching me Lord, and keep me close to you.
(For without you beside me I haven't got a clue.)
I belong to you Lord I am your creation . . .
I want only to praise you without cessation!
