BUILDING FAITH AND TRUST
Heavenly Father,
Your word says without faith it’s impossible to please
You, and Lord my sincerest desire is to please You, to hear You tell me at the
end of my time, “Well done, My good and faithful servant”.
Unless I am living by faith, I realize it is impossible to please You, so
in all humility I come before You this day with this request:
Oh Lord increase my faith!
Reconfirm to me Your existence, please give me the
assurance that You exist beyond what I can see or feel.
Open my spiritual eyes so I can recognize the imprint of Your hand not
only in world affairs, but also in every trivial nuances of my life.
Steer me away from the belief that I am the master of my own destiny so I
don’t relegate You to the status of a distant observer.
Most of all, remind me that my salvation is eternally hidden in Jesus
Christ, the author and finisher of my faith.
Believing in Your existence is much easier than trusting
in Your goodness. Lord God, I need a
vision of the reward of faith. Instill
within me the confidence that You are able and willing to intervene in my
everyday affairs. Strengthen me so I
can continue fervently in prayer until the object of my faith is secured.
At the same time Lord, place a watch over my eyes so that I focus not on the
reward, but on You.
On my own, I realize my inability to muster up a degree
of faith even the size of a mustard seed. All
faith begin with You for Your Word says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing
by the word of God. Holy Spirit
speak to my heart the faith creating words of God.
Open my eyes to comprehend the depths of Your Word and my ears to
recognize Your voice. And in my
moments of doubt and fear, heed my cry, “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief”.
Redirect my eyes from the visible into the invisible.
Reinforce my shield of faith, so my trust in You is unshakable and so I
can quench the fiery darts of the wicked one.
Show me the steps I should take because faith without works is dead.
Some people trust the power of chariots or horses, but I trust You, Lord God. Thank You that when my mind is stayed on You and I place my trust in You, You promise to keep me in perfect peace. Lord God, You are in control of my life, and I surrender all that I am to You. O Lord increase my faith!
